FAQ

How is Bio-Scriptorium different from other editing services?

Bio-Scriptorium is different from other editing services in several ways.  First, we provide a free sample edit of your work (usually one page) when we return the no-obligation estimate.  Second, Bio-Scriptorium is committed to maintaining the confidential and sensitive nature of pre-submission manuscripts or grant proposals.   Therefore, we utilize a unique and secure document submission and retrieval system.  Finally, Bio-Scriptorium provides a competitively priced extensive review every time and does not require its clients to choose among different levels of editorial services.

What is the turnaround time for editorial reviews by Bio-Scriptorium editors?

Bio-Scriptorium will return edited documents within 3-5 business days.  The editing services for grant proposals typically take longer than that for manuscripts. We will consider requests for rush orders (1-2 business days).  A 20% premium will be added to the price of rush orders.

What methods of payment does Bio-Scriptorium accept?

We accept payment by credit card (VISA, MasterCard).

How are documents submitted to Bio-Scriptorium for review?

Bio-Scriptorium uses a unique document submission and retrieval system that protects the confidentiality of your work.  Documents can be directly uploaded onto our server.  Please review our Services and Fees information for additional instructions.

What is the expertise of Bio-Scriptorium editors?

The editors at Bio-Scriptorium are professional Ph.D. scientists with 30 years of combined experience in academic research in the areas of biological sciences, molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, neurobiology, oncology, human genetics, and communication.

How does Bio-Scriptorium estimate their fees?

Bio-Scriptorium charges $30-50 US dollars per hour depending on the complexity of the required work.  This usually is equivalent to $5-10 US dollars per page. Bio-Scriptorium factors in the time it will take to edit for spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, word usage, clarity, organization, logic, and flow.  Grant proposals are typically more complex than manuscripts and require more editing time.  The sample edit, provided with your estimate, helps us to present a quote that is as accurate as possible. However, if for any reason the project takes longer than predicted, you will not be charged.  The price that we quote will be firm and no additional or hidden fees will be added.
